Bullets 03:51
Two hands, two knees One room chock-full of mysteries Hard steps, soft feet Pad-pad-padding down, to where strangers meet One table, six names, cluster bombs in the naming games Keen ears, hungry mind, dots to join and clocks to wind One times six times vanity, room - house - town - infinity Welcome to the industry of runaway reality We fly like bullets in a hail storm Each cry is just a pixel in a waveform Loose ends all tied up Trap doors bolted shut Mood swings supervised Downtime minimised Roll the dice, shake the tree, bouncing baby lottery Run and drive, duck and dive, best play dead to stay alive Once the curve leapt off the graph, none dared write an epitaph Treasuries project with glee, green is blue's fake remedy So bless every slip that could lead to excess In our time of need We fly like bullets in a hail storm Each cry is just a pixel in a waveform Our light was just a ray of hope back then But tonight the sky won't darken again © 2011 - 2022 Tom Berlin

Picsty 04:02
My ant-proof gazebo, Joe’s stag night placebo Flashing boobs, and a cruise through the mall Fun fireball shooters, carbon-free hamster scooters And Lou’s latest live lipstick haul… Pimp your gimp, fry his shrimp, up-close and yours: tap the trigger “Fuck Off I’m Fat” lands with a splat, footage galore, classrooms snigger Wish you were here, G-strings and beer, a mystery face has them guessing My hand, my mug, my room and rug, enough to keep you obsessing No room for lies when those digital eyes Go clickety-click, lickety-split, spat out into the picsty Chopped to byte-size, left to mass-fossilise Beyond reply, a stranger’s cry Who has control when no credits roll, who brakes the wheels once in motion Once there were few to dish up ballyhoo, now theirs is a drop in the ocean World within grasp as shutter hordes gasp, proof, surely, of one beating heart Though records may show that, as preferences go, we couldn’t be further apart No room for lies when those digital eyes Go clickety-click, lickety-split, spat out into the picsty Chopped to byte-size, left to mass-fossilise Beyond reply, a stranger’s cry © 2011 - 2022 Tom Berlin

Paradox 03:44
Up above my head tonight The watchful eyes of second sight I feel their gaze descend on me Shrug my shoulders helplessly Turn by turn the web is spun A bond renewed, a feud undone Caught in this spell of scattered ink My life's on hold, until I blink Pictures of time are floating in space Of me and mine, of rain and shine And lines on my face Of hopes that were some came to pass To tip their hats at those behind the glass Or search in vain for signs of shame A placid stare, a frozen smile Once given freely, now caught in time's exile Still have a hold, if truth be told There's no point hiding My pupils widen To welcome home a life once known Pictures of time are floating in space Of me and mine, of rain and shine And lines on my face Lines on my face . . . are floating in space Pictures of time are floating in space Of me and mine, come rain and shine, so Pictures of time come spinning like clocks To dazzle me, until I see life's paradox © 2011 - 2022 Tom Berlin

It's always easy till you try A poised finger, and seconds linger The mouse won't bolt till danger's nigh To trade your sympathy for ice-cold agony Tell them you care, world beware Words fall like rain, they sparkle and drain But the hearts that you stole and hoped to console Choked to death in the eye of your needle You hold the glass with shaky hand A life complete, poured in a heartbeat And sip by sip you understand Why life seemed better before you met her Say that you care, world beware Words fall like rain, they sparkle then drain But the hearts that you stole and hoped to console Never passed through the eye of your needle A blast of cold air slips inside Your blood won't heat it till bottle-treated And when you've nowhere else to hide You face the naked flame from inside your picture frame So tell them you care, let the world beware Words fall like rain, they sparkle and drain And the hearts that you stole and hoped to control Never melted the eye of your needle © 2011 - 2022 Tom Berlin

Aboard for life with fare prepaid A boundless stretch of blue and jade And driftwood, gasping in the wake A box of pins, a fading map Half-written postcards, lunchtime nap While outside voices slither by like snakes Who do you call when your ship goes down When lines are engaged in Network Town When cuckoos twitter of kidults in Spain And nearest is searching for dearest again A casual peek around the door Meets endless empty corridor The lush parade, razor-sharp and shadowless There’s laughter near and yet so far Impassioned whispers by the bar And oozing from above - a hymn, no less: “Give generously, we’ll do the rest.” Who do you call when your ship goes down When lines are engaged in Network Town When cuckoos twitter of kidults in Spain And nearest is searching for dearest again Who do you call... Where have I been... Who do you call when your ship goes down When laughter weeps and wavers drown Who do you call when you’ve lost the game Now the coast is clear, it’s time to row again © 2011 - 2022 Tom Berlin

You never see it coming You only see it leave At journey's end revealed Rare beauty long concealed The odds are stacked against it sky-high An endless swarm of near-hits flies by Your guardian angel dances on a pin's head Look up to take your chances, no matter what he said Outside the cage of certainty Untied from reason's gravity A line that no one knew Now intersects with you To light up the dark - your tinder, her spark And all it took was time and place And night dew on a wondrous face And clouds that stayed away Away... Away... It's nowhere, it's everywhere A bitter taste in the air You never saw it coming But man, you saw it go Finally, quietly, she left the key If kindness came in six-packs and laughter grew on trees Would drinkers get to wield an axe or get down on their knees A walk between the raindrops, hand in hand and heart to heart Rarely leads to where the train stops, seems to end before it starts Hang tight, it's only G-shock Alright, there's no cigar Once more around the old rock To ride your shooting star And if you get it right Your incandescent flight Will feel like a lifetime And all it took was time and place And night dew on a wondrous face And clouds that stayed away Stay away... Stay away... © 2011 - 2022 Tom Berlin

I took a flight today Where moonlight stroked a stormy sea And caught, through bridal veils of spray Way down, the strangest glimpse of me With liquid laughter to beguile I paused above this nameless isle I took the plunge today To touch down on a midnight shore And find my long-lost castaway Where waves cut rock and treetops soar Faint shadows lead, curled fingers plead The ground's a-shake with steps I take Until at last, surrounded, I can see A hall of mirrors stare at me Each likeness years could reconcile Outcasts to haunt this nameless isle I took a choice today Up on the hills that time forgot Above this ghostly résumé Of might-have-beens that I am not At crossroad, bridge or junction I choose At every business function I lose One me bereaved, one life reprieved Arms open wide, or cast aside My life or death by dragon's breath With velvet wings and scaly smile He rules all fate on Nameless Isle © 2011 - 2022 Tom Berlin

about

This is the definitive 2022 Bandcamp release of our 2011 album.

No re-mastering required for this one since Peter had already done a professional job at the time.
However, as the saying goes, an artist's work is never finished, only adjourned until hindsight has caught up. And it was in this spirit of enhanced rationality that most tracks willingly surrendered a few grams of unneeded ballast - not to de-stabilise, merely to reduce drag and so make them fly a little further without the need for carbon offsetting. Just as well, as the process has long been declared immoral by most self-respecting dragons, anyway. So all's well.

credits
